Home Decor, Grilled Cheeses and shopping

Friday June 2, 2023

Friday was a day I had looked forward to throughout the whole trip. We were going to the Magnolia Silos in Waco, Texas! The famous Silos location is a family friendly atmosphere and offers several shops and restaurant/meal options. It was designed by Joanna Gaines, after Chip Gaines her husband, bought the silos for her as a gift. The couple transformed the surrounding property of the silos into a family friendly shopping center.

After a delicious omelet at our Embassy Suites we loaded the car and drove to Waco our final activity for our 2023 trip to the West. The traffic conditions were not favorable and added a hour and a half to our ETA.

Arriving at Magnolia around 3:30 we headed straight to Magnolia Market. The Market had everything from t-shirts and souvenirs to kitchen ware and home decor. The Magnolia team decorates the store to fit the different seasons and the summer decor was absolutely beautiful. There is also a wing of the store that features reclaimed pieces of furniture, and some of which Joanna Gaines used in the homes designed during the Fixer Upper TV series.

After shopping in Magnolia Market for about thirty minutes we decided to eat dinner from the food trucks. My mom, Anna and I had a gourmet grilled cheese that was really good and my dad had a taco salad.

Once the four of us had eaten Anna got a snow cone with my dad while my mom and I visited the small shops. They have about eight cute and aesthetic stores including a book store, bath and body care store, sporting goods shop, leather bag shop, clothing boutique and a plant store. We went to all the stores and I got several things.

Once all the purchases were made we headed to the Magnolia Press coffee shop for an afternoon pick-me-up. The coffee shop had a modern farm house and cozy feel. It was also attached to the famous Magnolia Home store however we did not have time look through this shop.

Our final stop at the Magnolia was the Silos Bakery. The bakery serves several baked good form Joanna Gaines cookbook like the cookies. However the cupcakes are out of this world! They are currently offering a summer menu that includes an orange cream cupcake and it is delicious.

Once our time at the Magnolia Silos had concluded my dad drove about a hour and a half to our last hotel stay of the trip in Taylor, Texas.
